Centro Ricerche Archeologiche e Scavi di Torino per il Medio Oriente e l'Asia The Centro Ricerche Archeologiche e Scavi di Torino was founded on September 16, 1963 under the guidance of Giorgio Gullini and thanks to the joint effort of the City of Turin, the Province of Turin and the University of Turin, as an independent development of Is.M.E.O.’s Centro Scavi e Ricerche in Asia and the city of Turin. Today the Centre is supported by its members, which include the Region of Piedmont, the Province of Turin, the City of Turin, the University of Turin and the Fondazione CRT. Projects and activities are funded by: Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DGPCC, DGMM Task Force Iraq), Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (Research, Innovation and Organization Department, Archive and Library Department), Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione BNC. For 40 years now, the Centre has thus linked its
name and that of Turin to historical/archaeological research, especially
in Mediterranean countries, including Italy, and the Near and Middle East.
Abroad, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it performs Italy’s duties stemming
from cooperation agreements in cultural projects with several countries. |
