Excavations at Nisa and Materials from the Collections

This exhibition focuses on different aspects of the artistic and handicrafts production in Parthian Iran. The first section shows the results of the Soviet, Russian and Italian excavations in Old Nisa with the aid of drawings, plans and photographs of the most important materials from the site, as the ivory rithons, clay statues, marble sculptures and metal figurines. The second section displays objects from the collections of the Museo Nazionale di Arte Orientale “G. Tucci”. Coming from different regions of the Iranian plateau, they provide the visitor with an overview of the rich artistic and cultural tradition of the Parthian period.
