Pakistan was the first country to be explored by the then Centro Scavi e Ricerche in Asia dell’IsMEO e di Torino. Between 1956 and 1959 several archaeological campaigns were conducted in the Swat Valley: these were directed by Giuseppe Tucci, with Giorgio Gullini as co-director. At present, thanks to the cooperation with CrISSMA (Centro di Ricerche sul Sistema Sud e il Mediterraneo Allargato) and Università Cattolica di Milano, the Centre is taking part in the excavations at Banhbore, at the Indus mouths.
