Italy

The research carried out in Selinus by the University and the Centro Scavi of Turin started in 1970 with the photogrammetric and the traditional survey of the Temple E. Numerous sounding were subsequently performed inside and along the perimeter of the temple in order to acquire a detailed knowledge of the building’s design and techniques of construction, of its history and its relationship with the surrounding area. In the middle of the 1990s, the Centro Scavi produced a virtual reconstruction of the Ionic temple in the Marasà Sanctuary at Locri; at the end of the 1990s, the Piedmont area of Verbano Cusio Ossola was surveyed using geographic information system.
