Iran

In years 1960-1961, the then called Centro Scavi e Ricerche in Asia dell’IsMEO e di Torino performed archaeological researches in the Ku-i Khwaja complex, located in the Seistan region. In the 1970s, a general survey was conducted in the Atrek valley, aiming at reconstructing the settlement pattern of the area and its transformations over the centuries. Since 2008, an Iranian-Italian Joint Expedition is active in the area of the modern city of Izeh, in Khuzistan: fieldworks started at Hung-e Azhdar, and now continue at Kal-e Chendar, in the valley of Shami.
